On Oct. 5, Doosan Yonkang Foundation hosted the 9th Doosan Yonkang Art Awards, in the presence
of Chairman Yong Hyun Park, at Doosan Art Center in Jongno 5-ga, Seoul. At this year’s awards, the
Performing Arts Award went to stage director Jeong Kim while the Fine Arts Award was won by artist
Yuni Lee.

The two winners will receive prize money and support worth 370 million won (about $327,000). The
winner in the performing arts category will receive 30 million won in prize money along with 170
million won in support for the production of a new performance. The winner in the fine arts category
will receive 30 million won in prize money along with a studio residency (including flights and living
expenses) at Doosan Residency in New York, and exhibitions at Doosan Gallery Seoul and New
York, which are worth 140 million won total.

“This honor has provided me with an opportunity to think about my next step,” said Kim, who is
currently directing a play called, “Project Nae-chin-gim-ae” (which means “While I’m at It” in Korean.)

“For those around me who have provided support for my artworks until now, I will try my best to
strike a balance between work and life from now on,” said Lee, a visual artist who has immersed
herself in exploring social issues.

The Doosan Yonkang Art Awards were established in 2010, the centenary of the birth of Doosan
Group’s late Chairman Too Pyung Park, a leader who always emphasized the importance of
nurturing talents. Every year, Doosan Yonkang Foundation selects artists under 40 years old who
have the potential to grow and promote excellence in the Korean arts, in the categories of
performing arts and fine arts.

”It is my pleasure to meet the talented young artists who will lead the future of Korea’s culture and
arts, and it is especially meaningful as this year marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the
Doosan Yonkang Foundation,” said Chairman Park. “Through the awards, I hope that more people
would have a chance to acquaint themselves with the artworks created by our award-winning
artists.”
