On the 28th, the Doosan Yonkang Foundation held the "2025 Doosan Yonkang hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery Award" ceremony at the Hwabaek Convention Center in Gyeongju. Professor Kim Tae-seok of Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital received a 10 million won award, while Professor Kim Gil-hwan of Dankook University Hospital and Professor Hong Seok-gyun of Seoul National University Hospital each received 5 million won and a plaque.

Professor Kim Tae-seok presented his paper, "Multicenter Study on Prognosis and Predictive Factors after Hepatectomy in Patients with Liver Cancer with Portal Vein Thrombosis (Corresponding Authors: Kang Gu-jeong, Hwang Shin)", suggesting that hepatectomy can yield better treatment outcomes than non-surgical treatment.

Professor Kim Gil-hwan's paper, "The Impact of Longitudinal Location of Gallbladder Cancer on Long-Term Postoperative Outcomes: A Comparative Analysis of the Fundus, Body, Neck, and Cystic Duct: A Retrospective, Multicenter Study (Corresponding Author: Jo Seong-ho)," confirmed that cancers near the gallbladder duct had a higher recurrence rate and lower survival rate, but no direct correlation.

Professor Hong Seok-gyun's paper, "Pure Laparoscopic *Right Hepatectomy for Liver Transplantation in Patients with a Body Mass Index of 30 or More," demonstrated that pure laparoscopic right hepatectomy can be a safer and more effective option than open surgery.

The Doosan Yonkang Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Award was established in 2023 to promote the advancement of Korean hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and to encourage research among hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeons.

*Right hepatectomy: Surgery to remove the right liver of a living donor for liver transplantation.
