Doosan Yonkang Foundation awards the 2024 Doosan Yonkang Surgical Academic Award

On the 2nd, Doosan Yonkang Foundation held the '2024 Doosan Yonkang Surgical Academic Award' ceremony at the Korean Surgical Society Academic Conference held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Hongun-dong, Seoul, and awarded 30 million won in prize money and a plaque to Professor Kim Hyung-jin of the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital and 10 million won to Clinical Assistant Professor Lee Young-joo of the Department of Breast Surgery at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital.


Professor Kim Hyung-jin was selected as the winner by comparing the method of using a wound traction device, which protects and spreads the abdominal wall during stomach, small intestine, and large intestine surgery, and the method of wound protection using gauze to suggest a method to reduce surgical site infection.


Clinical Assistant Professor Lee Young-joo was recognized for his achievements in analyzing the prognosis of breast cancer according to the timing of recurrence.


The Doosan Yonkang Surgical Academic Award was established in 2007 to promote the development of Korean surgery and encourage the research motivation of surgeons, and has been awarded to 41 people over the past 17 years.
