On the 15th, the Doosan Yonkang Foundation held the '15th Doosan Yonkang Arts Awards' ceremony at the Lotte Hotel Bellevue Suite Room in Sogong-dong, Seoul, and awarded the awards to director Kang Bo-reum (Performance Division) and artist Jeong Yeo-reum (Art Division).
The Doosan Yonkang Foundation will provide a total of 290 million won to the winners. Each winner will receive 30 million won in prize money, and the winner in the Performance Division will receive 150 million won for the production cost of a new performance, while the winner in the Art Division will receive 80 million won for exhibition costs at the Doosan Gallery, overseas residency, accommodation, and airfare.
Director Kang Bo-reum has been creating original works on the theme of the encounter between the diverse bodies and voices of women, labor, youth, artists, queers, and the disabled/non-disabled. Director Kang Bo-reum expressed her gratitude by saying, "I am grateful to my colleagues who have worked with me so far, those who will work with me in the future, and the audience."
Artist Jeong Yeo-reum mainly uses video media to deal with war, nation, the relationship between place and memory, etc. In particular, he has shown an original and excellent sense that freely crosses over the past and present image creation methods by mixing not only personally filmed scenes but also found footage*, games, and various cutting-edge technologies such as Google Earth. In his acceptance speech, artist Jeong Yeo-reum said, “Thanks to your support and expectations, I will work hard to present even better works in the future.”

Park Yong-hyun, Chairman of the Doosan Yonkang Foundation, said, “It is the responsibility and duty of the Doosan Yonkang Foundation to support artists who strive to build and expand their own unique artistic world. I hope that this award will provide strong support to those who will lead our cultural and artistic world in the future.”
The Doosan Yonkang Art Award continues the wishes of Doosan’s first chairman, Park Du-byung, who emphasized the importance of talent and has been supporting young artists under the age of 40 with high growth potential in the performing arts and fine arts fields. As of this year, a total of 44 artists (teams) have won the Doosan Art Award.
