Researcher Seok-Won Hong, who was selected as the winner, presented a technology to maximize water treatment reactions by using metal material synthesis technology to improve the efficiency of pollutant treatment and by changing the polarity.
Professor Sang-Hyun Kim succeeded in producing the world’s best biohydrogen* by presenting a method for rapid production and high-concentration maintenance of substances in which hydrogen-producing bacteria grow in clusters.
*Biohydrogen: A high value-added resource produced by microorganisms decomposing organic matter and recoverable from environmental infrastructure such as wastewater treatment plants
The Doosan Yonkang Environmental Academic Award was established in 2019 as an extension of the environmental safety research support project that the Doosan Yonkang Foundation has been conducting from 1993 to 2017, and has been continuously implemented to promote the development of Korean environmental studies and to encourage research motivation among environmental professionals.
