Doosan Yonkang Foundation presents the 2023 Doosan Yonkang Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery Academic Award

On the 24th, Doosan Yonkang Foundation (Chairman Yong-Hyun Park) held the ‘2023 Doosan Yonkang Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery Academic Award’ ceremony at BEXCO in Haeundae-gu, Busan, and awarded Professor Seung-Eun Lee of Chung-Ang University Hospital with 10 million won, and Researcher Mi-Joo Kang of the National Cancer Center and Assistant Professor Seong-Yeon Hong of Ajou University Hospital with 5 million won each and a plaque.


Professor Seung-Eun Lee was selected as the winner in recognition of his achievement in developing a practical guideline recommendation for standardizing pancreatic cancer surgery through his thesis titled ‘Korean Surgical Practice GuideLine for Pancreatic cancer 2022: A Summary of evidence-based surgical approaches’.


Researcher Mi-Joo Kang analyzed the changes in the incidence, treatment, and outcomes of gallbladder cancer, extrahepatic bile duct cancer, and pancreatic cancer over time through her thesis titled ‘Incidence, mortality and survival of gallbladder, extrahepatic bile duct, and pancreatic cancer using Korean central cancer registry database from: 1999-2019’.


Assistant Professor Hong Seong-yeon contributed to writing the latest epidemiological statistics on liver cancer in the paper titled ‘Incidence, mortality and survival of liver cancer using Korea central cancer registry database: 1999-2019’.


The Doosan Yonsang Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery Award was established in 2023 to promote the development of Korean Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery and to encourage the research motivation of surgeons, and the first award ceremony was held.
