Yonkang Foundation Offers Academic and Scholarship Support

Yonkang Foundation was lauded as a role model in social contribution by offering a series of academic and scholarship support programs.

On February 17, the foundation has donated a total of one billion won to Seoul National University Hospital for the promotion of cancer research.

It also signed an agreement with Sang Cheol Seong, Director of Seoul National University Hospital, at the Conference Room 1 of Seoul National University Hospital and promised further financial aid.

All the donation money will be used to promote research activities in the areas of fundamental medical science, tumor prevention and clinical oncology.

Yonkang has promised to donate a total of one billion won for over a period of 10 years, by donating 100 million won every year until 2015.

On February 27, Yonkang Foundation has also decided to award a total of 770 million won in scholarships to the 265 students (150 elementary, 150 middle school, 62 high school, and 53 university students) chosen as Yonkang scholarship students of 2006, and gave scholarship certificates to the students.

At the ceremony, Yong Hyeon Park, Chairman of Yonkang Foundation, said, "It is a great pleasure to help the students who study hard while also looking after their families suffering from financial problems. With the little help we have offered, I hope you can concentrate more on their studies. I believe you will grow to be future leaders whom the country, society, community and family can depend on."

Yonkang Foundation has also donated a total of 100 million won in scholarship to Sookmyung Girls’ High School (Principal: Myung Gyung Ahn) celebrating its 100th anniversary on March 29. The principal expressed her deep appreciation for the scholarship by saying,
"There are many scholarship foundations in Korea, but most of them focus on helping universities.

It is particularly meaningful that Yonkang Foundation is lending a helping hand to high schools."
Since the establishment in 1978, Yonkang Foundation has been serving as an academic foundation that supports scholarship, academic and cultural programs. So far the foundation has awarded a total of 5.97 billion won in scholarships to 4,232 students.
