The Yonkang Foundation of the Doosan Group provides financial support enabling elementary and secondary school science teachers to take part in an inspection tour of industrial facilities both at home and abroad for seven days from January 21.

The beneficiaries of the annual event (started in 2007) comprise 37 science teachers selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology for 2008.

The winners are scheduled to pay visits to Doosan Heavy Industries, Doosan Infracore and Doosan Engine in Changwon, science and industry museums in Chiba and Tokyo, as well as the National Museum of Nature and Science and the Museum of the History of

Science in Tokyo.

The chairman of the Yonkang Foundation, Yong-hyun Park, said, "This event was conceived to enable science teachers to experience advanced science and technologies in the hope that they will be better equipped to teach young students."

The foundation has also provided financial support for history teachers embarking on inspection tours of the historic sites of Goguryeo in China and those of Baekje in Japan.

The annual events carried out between 1989 and 2007 have been attended by a total of 1,722 elementary and secondary school teachers.
