The program is designed to provide promising young Korean artists with an opportunity to work on the global stage, and thus enhance the level of Korea’s culture.
□ DOOSAN Gallery New York measuring 160 sq. meters in total floor space will provide assistance to young Korean artists by convening some 10 exhibitions annually, while supporting their exchanges and cooperation with renowned curators, critics and galleries.
□ Earlier in early June, Yonkang Foundation had launched “Doosan Residency New York” in Chelsea, New York City in a project designed to provide select artists with special workshops and residential space to ensure that they can concentrate on creative work.
□ Chairman Y.H. Park said at the inaugural ceremony of the gallery, “I am very pleased that Doosan offers an exhibition space and assistance programs for Korean artists in New York, the global hub of art,” adding, “I hope that the gallery will serve as a catalyst for
promoting Korea to the global art community.”
□ Meanwhile, the gallery holds the inaugural exhibition, 'D AiR (Doosan Artist in Residency),' which features artwork of three artists who are based at Doosan Residency New York, and which will continue through August 8. The trio are Hyeong Gu Lee (39), a sculptor
