□ Doosan Yonkang Foundation (Chairman Y.H. Park) said on October 8 that it will provide a total of US$ 60,000 over a three-year period to Korean studies department at six universities overseas, including Ho Chi Minh National University in Vietnam, and Dalian University of Foreign Languages in China.
□ The program for supporting Korean studies department at foreign universities provides part of financial costs for the establishment and operation of Korean language and Korean studies departments at foreign universities in order to promote the Korean language and culture.
□ Chairman Y.H. Park said, “It is very meaningful for many students in foreign countries to have interest in and try to learn the Korean language, society and culture,” adding, “We will continue to extend all possible support to promote Korea and the Korean language to the world in the coming years.”
□ The foundation has extended a total of US$ 459,000 to 15 universities in seven countries, since assisting the establishment in 1988 of the Korean language department at Oakland University in New Zealand for the first time as a private-sector organization in Korea.
