Doosan Group’s Yonkang Foundation (Chairman Y.H. Park) announced on November 23 that it will make customized donations of 23,900 books worth about US$ 190,000 to thirty one elementary schools in isolated regions including a number of islands and twenty seven children’s hospitals in Korea, and eight Korean schools in foreign countries including China, Saudi Arabia.
The book donation program consists in providing books that teachers recommend and those that students want to read, rather than in donating books unilaterally.
The Yonkang Foundation has donated 124,000 books to 249 schools, including elementary schools and children’s hospitals in Korea and Korean schools overseas since 2006.
The foundation will continue making such donations to all Korean schools in foreign countries until 2014.
The Yonkang Foundation was established in 1978 by Doosan to provide scholarships and support for academic and cultural projects.
